Upcoming Event: Fillmore Street Dinner with Sankofa Urban Farms

We are excited to share that our school garden community will be connected to a very special upcoming event: Outstanding in the Field’s Fillmore Street Dinner with Sankofa Urban Farms, taking place in San Francisco on June 16, 2026.

This event celebrates the power of urban farming, fresh food, and community care while raising awareness about the important work of ending hunger in the Fillmore. Hosted in partnership with Ms. Phyllis Bowie of Sankofa Urban Farms, the dinner will honor the message that β€œsoul food is medicine” and highlight the beauty, healing, and connection that can grow from neighborhood gardens.

For our garden program, this event is a meaningful opportunity to connect student learning with real community action. Through gardening, food justice, and partnership with local leaders, we hope to help students see that growing food is not just about plants β€” it is about caring for people, strengthening neighborhoods, and working toward a future where everyone has access to fresh, nourishing food.

Learn more about the event through Outstanding in the Field.
